Tradition, tradition…
I love Tradition, and I love traditions. I don’t really have many of my own, so I love it even more when I get to experience them firsthand alongside my clients. Adam and Ann were no different – except for that they were, because they blended their cultures beautifully, simultaneously doing things in way that expressed their love for each other and for life!
I loved the ways in which Adam & Ann made this wedding their own – their gorgeous chuppah, adorned with fabric from their families, walking each other down the aisle after the confetti kids (the cutest thing ever!), and the amazing apple brandy made in 1966 by Ann’s grandfather and gifted to the Bride and Groom before the ceremony with the immediate family. They really balanced their different traditions: Jewish for Adam, French for Ann, and dancing for both.
A Sweet Lane Gardens Wedding
Two months ago I received a voicemail from Anne asking me to give her a call. They were told that they needed to book a new venue; the one they had originally wanted was sold and no longer doing events. Can you imagine?! Naturally, they were a little stressed out (not nearly as stressed as I would’ve been!) but after some search, Ann’s now Mother-In-Law found this cute little place called Sweet Lane Gardens – and man, did they hit the jackpot! The grounds were stunning, the staff was perfect an as a bonus the newly weds got to light the bonfire with a hot air balloon torch!!! Yes!!!
Perfect for Each Other
These two were awesome from the first email all the way through the planning process, so I knew their Sweet Lane Gardens wedding and everyone who attended would be too! These swing dancing, calvados loving, good food enthusiast, all-night partying people know how to celebrate!
Adam makes Ann laugh, throw her head back and really laugh kind of laugh. I love that. I’m lucky to get to spend so much of my time with such an awesome emotion, love, and these two are no exception. They really and truly fit together. The way they dance together. The simple looks I’ve seen them give each other. It’s like they know the secret about how to be completely and utterly happy.
Ann and Adam met on OK Cupid – they were a 99% match! After their first date, Ann said she “didn’t feel a spark”, but when they met again a few months later at work, they started to grow on each other. Ann proposed to Adam two years later, using a tiny ship in a bottle.
Just-Married Bliss
The just married face…this is a real thing and I’m certain that you can’t fake it. It’s un-fake-able because the just married moment is one of the most exhilarating moments of your life. I’m not married (almost!), but I can say this with complete and utter confidence – I’ve seen this look happen again and again and it’s one of the most rewarding things in the world to watch (I love my job!). Adam and Ann will go down in history for their overjoyed, my-cheeks-hurt-I’m-so-happy, just married face. Congratulations you two!
Swing Your Partner!
Ann’s wedding dress was customized to be the perfect swing dancing, twirling dress with a gorgeous, vibrant orange fabric on top. They had a pocket square made for Adam so the two coordinated perfectly!
Kally Price, the singer for the ceremony, learned a song for them, “Always.” It’s an obscure old jazz song written by Irving Berlin for his wedding day. Kally encouraged everyone to sing along during the song and it was quite incredible to hear the voices of friends and family singing all around them at once. A little surreal, honestly. Other fabulous highlights of the day included the super groovy live band Hot Baked Goods (made up of their friends), the confetti kids (yay!), and the Calvados served with dessert.
Food Heaven – A La Heart Catering
The food from A La Heart Catering was truly out of this world! I could have spent the whole night eating just the appetizers, and then they served dinner! Now let’s talk about the root beer… don’t get me wrong they had the strong stuff too, but it’s a very rare occasion that I get enjoy an ice cold Dad’s root beer on a piping hot day surrounded by awesome people! Not to mention there was also pie, ice cream and Calvados. I don’t know about you, but I love pie and this pie was phenomenal!
Adam and Ann, wishing you both many years full of loving traditions, swing dancing twirls, and laughters. Congratulations you two!
xoxo
