I would just like to start this blog with a little prelude. So, here we go!
Georgia is an old friend of mine from a previous job back in the day. She actually assisted me in organizing my business when it was in its infantile stages. She was magic and such bright light in my day and if I remember correctly, she once got my email inbox down from 600+ to under 300…Dang! Then she and Hugo moved to the east coast and they of course drove! I mean, that’s not a HUGE surprise, as everything they do is an adventure. Needless to say, capturing their special day was even more special as I got to do it for people close to my heart!
How Georgia & Hugo Met
Hugo was an intern at the low-income housing corporation and Georgia asked him out! Role reversal!
Canadian Tuxedos and Other Nontraditional Things! (Yes, you read that right)
A little clarification for those who aren’t aware of the brilliance that is a Canadian Tuxedo: it’s a denim jacket paired with denim pants and pretty much anything else denim you own. Let that visual sink in, and then apply it to Georgia and Hugo’s wedding ceremony at Hellman Hollow, in Golden Gate Park. Their invitation encouraged the Canadian Tuxedo attire or comfortable clothes. It was beautiful, intimate, casual, denim-y AND pork buns. YUM.
The Commissary Wedding in San Francisco
This is when everyone got all gussied up. My friends really know how to clean up! Georgia wore a stunning gown by Samantha Sleeper and had makeup done by Marisa Perel that highlighted her natural beauty. Hugo looked dashing in his J.Crew Suit.
The reception venue was at The Commissary in the Presidio. What a gorgeous venue! Tables where decorated with beautiful trimmings Georgia and her friends picked and photos that Hugo had taken from all their trips from around the world that were used as markers for where were supposed to sit.
At the reception, the speeches were a fabulous blend of roasting and deep emotion, but her dad stole the show. His speech was so eloquent and touching that it seriously made every human there cry. Not only did he bring the house down, but then Hugo’s nieces sang the most adorable love song to them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, especially, not Georgia & Hugo’s.
Dancing The Night Away in the Presidio
After all that crying, there was a need to get down and dance. Let me tell you, these people can DANCE! Georgia and Hugo’s first dance was to the classic “Fly Me to The Moon” by Frank Sinatra, which was sweet and because they are who they are, their dance was all it’s own . The rest of the evening consisted of many laughs, dance-off’s, and smiles.
There was two major take aways from this heartfelt occasion. The first being we literally got to take home metal straws as a wedding favor. This was their contribution to help reduce the plastic in our oceans! Secondly, Georgia and Hugo have a a deep love for one another, a kind of love that radiates to their friends and family, creating a wonderful space for their tribe.
Congrats, you two. My heart is full knowing you two have eachother forever and I love you!
