Kim & Katy’s Livermore wedding was a celebration after my very own heart! Chock-full of love, funky and homemade, the one-est one-of-a-kind event you can imagine – going through their images again made me laugh and cry, remembering just how awesome it was.
Irresistible Attraction
The pair met volunteering at Pride 2008 in the city, and apparently it was magnetic attraction at first sight! Katy did some shady underhanded redistribution of teams to end up working with Kim, while Kim “lost” her truck to give them more time to talk. They were on the phone the very next day, and the rest is a story that’s just begun!
A Homestyle Livermore Wedding
The wedding was held in their very own backyard, renovated by Kim, Katy, their parents and friends and while I’m not totally sure what it looked like before and I will tell you this, it looks AMAZING now! It was clear that they all put a lot of love into the wedding details: Their yellow VW bus given to Kim by Katy as an engagement gift, was their getaway car, the desserts were made by Kim’s sister, and Katy walked down the aisle to the acoustic version of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” played by a friend’s brother. Katy made the wine barrel stave centerpieces, her mom grew most of the succulents, and Kim’s mom made the “Thank you for coming” cards. Everything looked perfect and full of love!
Chickens, Turtles, and Cats, Oh My!
Even the animals joined in on the festivities – chickens, cats, a neighborhood turkey named Oscar, and of course the turtle that I corralled pictures (because their cat wouldn’t hold still!). Not to be forgotten were the kiddos – so many, many adorable kiddos. One kiddo wasn’t even born yet, but decided Kim and Katy’s wedding would be the perfect day to make her appearance – her mom Suzie, a bridesmaid, was whisked away after the first dance! They named her Mary Grace, though she tried to sneak in the name ‘Mary Christmas’. Hubby shot that idea down.
Made with Love
The food, by Chef Tina Ferguson-Riffe of Smoked Berkeley, was incredible, as were the desserts, made by loving family hands. And don’t forget the couple’s signature drinks – Moscow mule and whiskey smash!
Yellow is the Color of Joy
I loved the matching-yet-different yellow bridesmaids dresses, the yellow and blue bouquets by Chrystal Keller of 2 Friends Events, and Kim’s yellow suspenders – yellow, yellow, yellow, sunshine and happiness!
And They’re Off!
The active, outdoor-loving couple took off for the perfect honeymoon – away from cell phone service in a Mendocino National Forest Fire Tower!
The sweet and tender way in which Kim and Katy love each other is just ridiculous, good ridiculous. I get butterflies when I see the way they look at each other. Their love and connection is electric and simultaneously magnetic, you can’t help but smile when you’re around them 🙂
Congratulations, you two! I wish you all the best in your ongoing adventure!
xoxo
