I’ve set out to post something so many times of the last few weeks, share some of the magic I’ve been part of and been capturing. But each time I do, something happens in the world that breaks my heart again, or makes anything joyful I want to share seem insensitive or tone def or my heart just feels to heavy to find the inspiration.

From government sanctioned murder of the Nigerian people , to the indigenous people being killed for their land in Nicaragua, to the continued assault on Black and Brown people here, to our beautiful coast burning, to flooding, to this fucking pandemic, to insane anxiety around the election to, to... its exhausting. So I stay quiet.
But I want to share light and beauty and truth and the hard shit. So I’m starting with this epic picture our magical son, dressed up in his all fabulousness ✨🥳🥰 thank you for being my guiding light sweet Zo

I’m really fucking scared.
Most days I feel hopeful, at least deep down, that many of us are waking up, making the shifts in our daily lives that lead to better choices, the kind of change that gives our children a future. But today was fucking scary.
I’m sure tomorrow will bring it’s own set of scary, if 2020 has shown us anything, it’s that we can’t bank on today being rock bottom because there always seems to be farther to fall. But tomorrow I will search for the hope again, because I have to believe we still have a chance to save this beautiful, beautiful planet 🌎

@julianneyoga and I took this photo 3 years ago during one of the first and worst fires I could remember, the beginning of these terrifying times. We had no idea the beach would look like this, it was an emotional shoot because it was so beautiful and so very sad.

So you say all lives matter, and blue lives matter and racism isn’t real and you don’t see color and and and...THIS IS AMERICA.
And until #BlackLivesMatter until the system is overhauled, until the people we put in power care and the laws change and the racist lawlessness is punished, this will continue to be our America. Maybe you can go back to looking the other way and hiding behind the privilege and shield of your skin color, but we will continue to be shot while walking away in front of children and you will continue to be able to walk towards the cops with an automatic rifle. For many of you 2020 has been an eye-opener to the struggles, the pain, the suffering, the brutality, the powerlessness, the racism, the inequality, the injustice and the fuckery of this country.
But for most of us if it’s a continuation of the same record on repeat, spinning endlessly.
We are tired, but that won’t stop us. You may be tired too, you may want to look away or unplug from it all... but too fucking bad... we’ve got work todo fam.
So get pissed, get fired up, get on the phone, get out in the streets, have the hard conversations.
Stand up for justice and kneel for anything less.

Struggling to see the clear path forward... struggling to see anything, literally, spiritually and mentally... the world feels just like this opaque abyss so often these days.
I have moments of clarity so raw I can see all the possibilities in front of me which such certainty that I can reach out and touch them.
But 2020 continues to test that resolve, for all of us.
THIS SHIT IS HARD.
Pandemic, Recession, Revolution #BLM, Sociopath President, Polarizing politics, Fires, Hurricanes, Droughts, Floods...shit sounds like the end of times. And it will be if we don’t make drastic changes. If we don’t put people in office who can begin to reverse the damage, if we don’t start leading with love instead of greed.
The future CAN be bright, I know it in my soul that we can save our future and more importantly our children’s future, if we keep pushing forward into the mist, the unknown and against the evil.
WE MUST GALVANIZE.
