They say love is an adventure (someone says that, right? Right?), and Andi and Steve really prove that it’s true. From the moment they met to their epic honeymoon, these two are in life for the exciting adventure that it can be.
Finding Love on Match.com
Steve and Andi met on match.com. When I shot their engagement session, we visited the bar where they had their first ‘in real life’ date. I think most of us know that it’s a jungle out there in the world of dating, online, offline…you get the point, but these two were willing to take a risk and boy did it pay off!
An Adventure Shared is an Adventure Doubled
This is one active couple; on any given day you might find Andi running or practicing yoga, and Steve playing sports, fishing or hiking. They both love hockey, camping and traveling, and in quieter moments they enjoy them some Disney and reading. When they are together they laugh A LOT, which is a mark of a great relationship, if you ask me.
The Epic Garré Winery Wedding Adventure
Of course, Andi and Steve had to have an epic wedding adventure, and their special day did not disappoint. It was classy and romantic while still glowing with their vibrant, quirky personalities and love of living!
The venue they chose is an instant new favorite of mine – Garré Winery in Livermore, CA. The grounds were absolutely stunning, filled with the most beautiful trees, grapevines, and the day was full with gorgeous light. I was obsessed with the giant oak tree that towered over the ceremony. Super-dreamy! Of course the rich royal purples in the color scheme, the epic leather suspenders and all their gorgeous details got a big thumbs up from me and really showcased the couple’s unique energy.
Unique Wedding Details
Andi’s long-time friend was the officiant, and there was definitely some tearing up going on. They did a hand-tying in their ceremony – their moms, her dad and his uncle wrapped 4 ropes around Steve & Andi’s linked arms in a specific way so that when they shook the rope lose they made a perfect knot which they could then keep forever. I’d never seen anything like it before, and loved it! The flower girls and ring bearers were their nieces and nephews and beyond adorable. The girls wore handmade dresses and carried handmade buckets and the boys were dapper in their suspenders and caps.
Other unique touches to the wedding included the wedding arbor, which Steve made himself, as well as a custom Sharks Cornhole board. The wedding program corkboard and suitcase wedding card box were also homemade with love.
So You Think You Can Dance?
At the reception DJ Rcihard Gintowt of All Ears DJ got everyone out on the floor dancing before the bridal party walked in. First dance was (wait for it) “I Don’t Dance” by Lee Brice. (Gotta love that sense of humor!) I found out that their cake topper had been used on many family wedding cakes in the last 50 years or so, which is a new tradition to me, and an awesome one!
The Beard
I feel like I must also pause here to acknowledge that over the last year Steve grew an EPIC beard. Take a moment to revel in its glory.
On to New Adventures
And now for the best part. Steve and Andi are taking a year – yes, 12 whole months – for their honeymoon. They quit their jobs and are driving all over the country before setting off on an international adventure.
Happy traveling, you two! Congratulations!
xoxo
