A Serendipitous Saturday
October 3, 2015 was a great day to be a Hawkeye. Marc had traveled from Iowa to Wisconsin watch the Hawkeyes play and ultimately beat the Badgers. It had been 5 years since Iowa won a road game against a nationally ranked team, but that wasn’t the best part. He had met Vanessa, who had flown from California with a friend who introduced the two at the game! Little did they both know, it would be the start of a beautiful romance.
Their connection was instant, and they spoke for a few hours before Marc stole a kiss, and Vanessa gave him her number. Daily hour-long conversations turned into monthly visits, then an international date in Hong Kong, followed by a 7-day hiking expedition in Peru, a couple respective U.S. state visits, and finally a decision that changed everything.
Marc followed his heart to San Francisco in 2016, found an apartment near Vanessa, and over dinners, events, Marin hikes, Napa wine tastings, camping trips, and constant hours together developing their relationship, they both realized where this was going. Marc moved in with Vanessa one year later and soon after proposed at the top of Mount Solaro in Capri, Italy.
The Bachelorette hasn’t got a thing on this couple! Especially since they decided to have a Hans Fahden winery wedding. It’s only *the most* magical looking wedding venues on the West Coast!
Whimsical, Wonderful, What A Party!
Having a Hans Fahden winery wedding is nothing short of a real-life fantasy fairyland. So many magical nooks and hidden gems. It’s always colorful and vibrant with lush greens and blooming flowers. Then there’s the cave, complete with a twinkling light entrance that Marc & Vanessa got to reveal to their guests at the reception!
Marc and Vanessa’s wedding ceremony was held outside. As Vanessa walked down the aisle looking like a vision (makeup and styled by Caysi Jean), Marc teared up. Their love for each other is so palpable, and you could really feel just how happy they are to have found each other.
During the ceremony, both sets of parents came up to the altar and joined for a Glass Unity Ceremony. They poured 6 colors of shattered glass into a vase to signify their union. The vase was then flown to a glassblowing facility, placed in a kiln, and made into a glass sculpture!
It was really beautiful that they both come from families where their parents have been together for years and that they honored them by having them be part of the ceremony.
After a very beautiful and emotional ceremony, Tessa-tinis where served! Tessa is one of Vanessa’s bridesmaids and the one who brought her on that auspicious vacation in October! The martini was made of Chilean white wine, lime soda water, and rose grenadine, in case you were wondering!
They danced to Bruno Mars’ “Versace On The Floor”, which is the epitome of romance. Guests enjoyed delicious custom cookies gifted to the happy couple from Short Street Sweets Bakery by Mariko. The centerpiece of cascading flowers was arranged by Verde Florist and cake made by Bella Bakery Cakes!
I also ran into a familiar pair of newlyweds back from their honeymoon and now guests at their friends’ wedding. Hi Dora and Jay! You guys looked lovely!
Vanessa and Marc, I am so happy you two found each other and I wish for the most amazing adventures together to come! Your wedding was truly magical, and not just because of the fairytale venue, but because of the love you have for each other.
